Description
Offered is an interesting, even striking, pair ofvintage Sammann take-apart 8" red-painted handle steel kitchen, floral, or utility scissors.
This scissor design, also used by other manufacturers at the time, presented a kind of multi-tool: a bottle opener, screwdriver, and claw-crusher forged together with a scissors. So what you have here is kitchen utility and versatility rolled into one durable tool, a pretty cool minimalist concept, and definitely a departure from today, when kitchens have somehow come to need a different appliance or tool for every purpose. In sum, this scissors is intriguing for what it is NOT--NOT a counter-cluttering device, NOT plastic or aluminum, NOT broken at their tip, ONLY marked "Sammann," and "hot drop forged steel Italy." What's more, seller is confident that this is an old pair, and has been used by many hands. Note from the photos that there is some loss to the red paint on the handles, but that good chrome remains on the inside of the blades, and that one blade edge is slightly and deliberately serrated or toothed for grip. Thus, these scissors cut stiff paper and paperboard (see photos), succulent flower & herb stems, and other
semi-rigid materials
well when used by a right handed person. They
do NOT
cut cloth or fabric
. And as vintage scissors, they are
offered here "as-is"
in any case.
