    Description

For your consideration is this eerily beautiful genuine framed 5.0" long "
    PALAMNAEUS (
    HETEROMETRUS)  FULVIPES
" or also known as a
    Large "Forest" Scorpion
from the Butterfly Farm in Mae Rim, Thailand.
The large scorpion is encased behind glass and secured inside a shadow box with overall measurements of approximately 6.75" long x 5.75" wide and 7/8" deep.  The back of the shadow box is securely sealed with brown framer's tape and also has a small triangular hook that is screwed to the wood frame at the center top for hanging this piece upon the wall.  Please refer to the description photos to conform the condition of the scorpion, shadow box and for more details about what I have described.
Below I have included a brief general synopsis regarding this spices that helps describe what this
    arachnid
    is.
    "
    Giant forest scorpions,
Heterometrus, whose members are also known by the collective vernacular name giant forest scorpions, is a genus of scorpions belonging to the family Scorpionidae.  It is distributed widely across tropical and subtropical southeastern Asia, including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tibet and China.  It is notable for containing some of the largest living species of scorpions.
Scorpions are venomous, nocturnal, invertebrate (Arthropoda) arachnids and a living fossil.  The scorpion genus Heterometrus belongs to the family Scorpionidae.  There are 33 species of Heterometrus scorpion found throughout the world.
Scorpionidae as the oldest recognized scorpion family, this group once included all known scorpions.  Over the years, its scope has been reduced.  Currently, the family is compact and homogeneous, with nine genera and 157 species, and includes some of the world's largest and most formidable-looking scorpions.  All are heavy-bodied with large, powerful pedipalps.  Some members of the Asian genus Heterometrus reach lengths of 16 cm or more"
    .
This scorpion is a nice clean and detailed specimen for study and/or display.  I had this framed giant scorpion hanging on the wall in my "Man Cave" for years.  Since I remodeled my room, and the theme has changed completely, I no longer have the need to keep this piece.
The scorpion as it is currently positioned measures approximately 4.75" in length from tip to tip and 2.50" in width from
    one pedipalp (
    pincer)
    to the other.
However, keep in mind the scorpion is mounted in a curved position thus it measures smaller than the creature actually is.  If the scorpion was laid flat I am very certain it would easily measure in excess of 5.0" and maybe even 6.0" in overall length.  Please refer to the description photos for more details about what I have described.
Overall, this is an interesting piece that would make a great gift for an inquisitive youngster or the adult who likes oddities and appreciates the more daring things in life.
Please look at the description photos closely as they confirm the condition of the framed giant scorpion I describe and accurately depict exactly what you will receive if you purchase this piece.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding this scorpion or would like additional photographs of a particular part or an area of the box that is not pictured, please email me and I will respond ASAP.
