    Description

This is a color change natural Fluorite gemstone. It measures around 12X10mm and is 6mm deep, but check the photos with the millometer gauge which shows the exact size with fractions included. It weighs about 5.50cts, maybe a drop more. This stone is blue in incandescent (regular light bulb) light and turns to a teal green color in fluorescent light (daylight). I photographed it in two different rooms to show the two colors. I have strong lighting in my home, so keep in mind that the strength of the color change depends on how much direct light hits the top of the gem. It might look different in several different lights and a bit different in your lights. Sometimes if the sun outside is not super strong (cloudy day) the gem will look more bluish green instead of teal. The two colors you see here in the photos were both taken indoors. The teal color is from the fluorescent light I have in my kitchen and the blue color is from the incandescent light I use near my computer. The gem is a natural earth-minded color-change gem.
This Fluorite appears clean to the naked eye, but it does have some inclusions under 10X magnification as most gems do. These stones are coveted by collectors, but if you want to use it in jewelry, keep in mind that all Fluorite gemstones are soft, so you might want to consider putting it into a pendant or a ring setting that offers some protection to the gemstone. I suggest you question your jeweler to make sure you have a jeweler set it who understands the structure of Fluorite and knows how to handle delicate stones. This stone cannot handle hot steam cleaning. I once had a jeweler who set a fluorite for me and then he steamed it to clean it. It cracked immediately. On the other hand, I have a fluorite ring that has stayed in perfect condition that I purchased years ago and I still wear it, but do not wear it when I am doing heavy physical work.
I have decided to sell some gemstones that at one time I had the intention to use, but never got around to it. Gemstones are  hard to photograph, so sometimes I use a zoom lens on my camera to show clarity and details, but keep in mind, the stones are much smaller than the photos appear so please pay close attention to the dimensions. The colors might look a little different on different monitors and in this case the color change might be a little different depending on your light sources being different than mine. I always say the weight is "about" a certain amount of carats because I realize that not all weight scales weigh in exactly the same and can be off by a tiny fraction up or down, but all in all my weight calculations are fairly accurate. Although I call the stone pre-owned because I owned it a long time, it is new condition - never used and has been stored carefully in a gem jar for a number of years.
Please note I am not a gem dealer, although I probably have more knowledge about stones than most people since I have been collecting stones my entire life and studied color stones with the GIA. I'm just selling a few pieces I that never had the opportunity to use, and I'd like to see them go to someone who will enjoy and use them. I am not a store so
    I do not accept returns
, as my goal is to thin out my collections, so please be sure you really love this gemstone before you buy it and feel free to ask any questions you might have before you bid or buy. I love to discuss gems!
All of my listings ship free of charge in the USA. I do not sell overseas at this time. Note that now eBay is required to charge taxes so I am guessing that taxes will be added to this purchase via eBay.
Thank you for checking out my listing and happy eBay shopping! Stay safe!
