CHUCK MCKINLEY IS AN ICON IN THE WORLD OF TENNIS, IN 1963 HE WON THE MEN'S SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS AT WIMBELDON, THE ONLY AMERICAN TO DO SO DURING AN ERA DOMINATED BY AUSSIES ROD LAVER, ROY EMERSON AND JOHN NEWCOMBE. UNTIL 1968 ONLY AMATEURS WERE ALLOWED TO COMPETE AT WIMBELDON AND ONLY TEXAN CHUCK MCKINLEY MANAGED TO BREAK THE DOMINATION IN 1963 BEATING AUSSIE FRED STOLLE IN THE FINALS.IT WAS MCKINLEY'S GREATEST TRIUMPH.BUT MCKINLEY WAS A DOMINATING U.S. PLAYER TEAMING UP WITH DENNIS RALSTON TO WIN THE U.S OPEN DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 1961, 1963 AND 1964. IN DECEMBER OF 1963 MCKINLEY AGAIN TEAMED UP WITH DENNIS RALTON AS THEY PLAYED ALL 7 MATCHES IN THE DAVIS CUP AND BEAT AUSTRALIA,THE ONLY TIME THAT AUSTRALIA LOST IN 9 CONSECUTIVE YEARS. JOHN NEWCOMBE LED THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM. CHUCK MC KINLEY WAS #1 IN THE WORLD IN 1963. CHUCK MCKINLEY DECIDED NOT TO TURN PRO AND HE RETIRED FROM TENNIS AND BECAME A STOCKBROKER.
