Some yield to expedience, producing little more than a sawed-off version of an existing hardtop. But Saab has little use for expedience, and elected instead to devote five years to expanding the possibilities of tne open car.
With the help of a Cray supercomputer, we analyzed the stresses unique to convertibles and designed 23 body and chassis members to overcome them.
Wind tunnel tests dictated an increased rake for the windscreen, to
minimize cockpit air turbulence.
And through a seemingly, endless procession of drawings, mock-ups and prototypes our stylists pursued that rarity of convertible design: a top that looks as good up as it does down.
Of course, our convertible also comes with many features shared by the Saabs preceding it. Including our legendary 900 Turbo engine. And an interior which, unlike most convertibles' easily accommodates four adults.
All of which becomes more meaningful with the sun in your face and
