    Description

For sale here is a very late 4-bolt Fender Telecaster Bass maple neck.  It has the original finish, frets, nut, tuner ferrules, string retainer and logo.
Cosmetically, it shows some finish wear on the G-string side edge, a few scrapes on the top of the headstock, and some dings & scuffs scattered about… overall it’s really pretty clean.
The issue is the frets: they are very, very low.  They’ve been dressed down to the point that there is NOT enough metal left for a fret level or Plek, so you have to understand & accept that it does not play perfectly, and that it really, really needs a re-fret.
    Read that last paragraph again.
As it sits, I’ve got it strung up with medium-gauge roundwounds and & factory action, and it’s a little buzzy (mostly on the A, D & G strings) all the way up, if you pluck the strings with any kind of force.  It’s not a hard buzz, but it buzzes, for sure.  If you play with a super-light touch and/or like high action, you could conceivably get away with it, but don’t kid yourself: it needs a re-fret.
The neck IS straight, the truss rod works fine & isn’t buried, and the profile is BIG, with the fretboard width at the nut just under 1 & ¾ inches.  The neck date stamp reads “23 SEP 71 C”, so it’s one of the last 4-bolt Tele Bass necks made by CBS Fender.
I will ship the neck to the continental US, at my cost, via UPS Ground... I am NOT shipping internationally at this time.  Other US shipping options, including local pickup, are possible… just ask first, please.
READ THIS: I have made every attempt to describe this neck honestly, but SALES ARE FINAL, so please ask all questions BEFORE you bid.  If you’re out of the shipping area, are new to eBay, or have had problems with past eBay exchanges, contact me BEFORE you bid.  And if you can’t communicate & pay promptly, or follow these other simple courtesies, then please just shop elsewhere.
I’m not in business; I’m just a hobbyist, and I have too many basses and too many projects, so it’s time for someone else to take this one over.  It needs a re-fret, and it’s priced accordingly… but please: think it through.  Thanks for looking… and be well!
